Another Lesson in focus

The trip to Poland that I talked about earlier this week is still reverberating around my head, my clinic, and the overall plan for my life.

The reason I went to Poland in the first place and gave up the time, effort, and energy was to investigate how much deeper I needed to go into this whole guided surgery digital project (we've already gone quite far into that project over the past ten years).

It's now obvious to me that I have to carve out part of my time for the next five years to dedicate to this project again, having carved out much of my time in the past five years to build a clinic and get it rolling so that it was fit to do this.

There are many other things to do now, so there will be tough decisions about what to grab and what not to grab. I cannot say yes to everything, and although we have an extraordinary team together, we cannot say yes to everything.

And so again, something fantastic and something inspirational gives us an extraordinary lesson in the importance of focus.

I have so much confidence in the people who work here that I believe we could be good at many things (I've never talked openly about the clothing brand project, but I'd really like us to do it; we just don't have time).

I'm pretty sure I could write a book, too; I have many ideas for that.

But at the moment I've decided that I'm gonna carve out time to look at dental implants in digital format, on screens and CT scans, I'll be really, really good at that (relatively speaking).

That's the type of thing that brings me alive and makes me excited. For better or for worse, I am a boring dentist, and therefore, now that I know the path, it will be easier for me to apply myself.
