Dreams versus Objectives...

Colin Campbell
by Colin Campbell on 05/10/16 18:00

Understanding the difference is critical to happiness.

A dream in my world is something distant and etherial and hard to achieve but worth it and wonderful.

An objective is one of the stages that i've used to break down the process of travelling from here to the dream.

The dream might have been Barcelona Ironman or the Outlaw or a Fellowship in dental surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons or getting my children to self-sufficiency at 19 years of age or being married or building something extraordinary.

The dream is one thing but the objectives are where the work gets done. How do I get from here to there? i chunk it into small manageable sections, each moving forwards to the objective. Never being too scared from time to time to cast aside a dream because it is obviously unachievable or the objectives can't be met.

Sure it's great to have the dream and dream as big as you can and remember that...

"the problem is not that we aim too high, it's that we aim too low and hit"

but without the objectives it's pretty worthless.
