Course Outline

Skeletal anchorage has revolutionised orthodontics, offering unprecedented control, stability, and efficiency in even the most challenging cases.

This cutting-edge course is designed for orthodontists and dentists eager to refine their expertise in TADs and mini-plates—from foundational principles to advanced biomechanical applications. Through a blend of theory, digital planning, and hands-on training, you’ll gain the confidence and skills to integrate these powerful tools seamlessly into your practice.

Who Should Attend?

  • Orthodontists and dentists who are eager to enhance their expertise in skeletal anchorage.
  • Clinicians who are looking to integrate TADs and mini-plates into their daily practice.
  • Professionals seeking hands-on training and real-case applications.

Anatomical Considerations for Safe & Effective Placement

✔️ Identifying key anatomical landmarks for TAD and mini-plate placement

✔️ Understanding bone density, cortical thickness, and optimal insertion zones

✔️ Soft tissue management to prevent irritation and complications

✔️ Selecting the right mini-screws: features, sizes, and practical applications

✔️ Step-by-step insertion techniques for maximum stability and success

✔️ Troubleshooting and managing potential placement failures

Biomechanics: Optimising Force & Movement

✔️ TADs vs. Mini-Plates – When to Use Each? Understanding their distinct advantages

✔️ Direct vs. Indirect Anchorage: Strategic force application for superior control

✔️ Force Vectors & Moment Control: Ensuring predictable and efficient tooth movement

✔️ Vertical Control Techniques: Intrusion, extrusion, and open bite correction

✔️ Managing Skeletal Discrepancies: Sagittal and transverse corrections with precision

✔️ Management of impacted canines

Digital Planning & 3D-Guided Insertion for Unmatched Precision

✔️ Essential digital records for accurate mini-screw planning

✔️ Key anatomical considerations for virtual case simulations

✔️ 3D printing of surgical guides for precise and predictable placement

✔️ A step-by-step guide to mini-screw insertion using guided techniques

Hands-On Training: Practical Skills for Clinical Excellence

✔️ Live Demonstrations & Hands-On Practice – Mastering TAD placement on typodonts

✔️ Step-by-Step Insertion & Removal Techniques – Safe, effective, and efficient procedures

✔️ Wire Bending & Auxiliary Adjuncts – Enhancing anchorage mechanics for optimal results

Transform Your Practice: The Benefits of TADs & Mini-Plates

✔️ Expand treatment possibilities for severe malocclusions and skeletal discrepancies

✔️ Reduce reliance on patient compliance with fixed anchorage solutions

✔️ Shorten treatment times with efficient biomechanics and precise control

✔️ Minimise the need for orthognathic surgery in select cases

✔️ Increase predictability and treatment success with evidence-based techniques
