International inspiration

In this new job that I started about five weeks ago (Editor in Chief of the ITI Academy), I've already had the opportunity of speaking to people from many, many countries where I haven't spoken to people from before.

The list of people that I've spoken to in the last little while encompasses some of the following countries but is not exhaustive: Brazil, Poland, Thailand, Norway, Lithuania, Albania, to name but a few.

The people I've spoken to from these countries who are associated with the ITI and who will begin to work on projects related to some of the things that I am responsible for have been some of the most extraordinary and talented, and inspirational people that I have had the chance to meet anywhere.

These people are motivated (generally not financially and certainly not financially for these jobs), but they have a thirst to make things better and to share what they know and what they've learned with other people.

If I never received a penny for anything to do with this work (and that's not true, but it's not life-changing), it would be one of the most valuable things I had ever undertaken.

Seeking out connections and experiences from others and cultures other than that we are coded into has to be a pathway to take for all of us where possible to give us greater understanding and greater joy rather than just keeping our noses stuck on the grindstone.
