Dr Carol Tait is a specialist endodontist with more than 30 years' experience across academia and private practice. After a decade in general practice she completed an MDSc in Endodontics in Cape Town (1998) and specialist endodontic training at the University of Dundee (2004). She led undergraduate endodontic teaching from 2004, was appointed Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Endodontology in 2015, and was Programme Lead for a Masters in Endodontics until retiring from academia in 2024, alongside several peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.
Alongside her university career she has worked in specialist private practice in Edinburgh, including 20 years at Edinburgh Dental Specialists, and currently practises two days a week at The Row. A highly experienced educator, she has delivered many lectures and hands-on courses to GDPs and VTs across Scotland and beyond. She is a member and former Council member of the British Endodontic Society, a past Director and seven-year Executive Committee member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, current Deputy Lead Examiner for the endodontic specialty exam at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and a long-serving Dentsply Sirona opinion leader. Proficient across the full spectrum of contemporary endodontics, including surgical endodontics, she is passionate about building confident, evidence-based practice among early-career dentists.
