Battle plans rarely ever stand contact with the enemy.
The problem with scripting difficult conversations (and progress is almost always made by being prepared to have difficult conversations) is that the other person has often scripted the conversation too and their script is often different to your script.
The other problem is that when a scripted conversation crashes against emotion or anger or distress or frustration, the script quickly unravels and if you have relied on the script to provide your answers, you run out of things to say.
It's fine to have points that you'd like to get across.
By entering difficult conversations with empathy and kindness and understanding, and, a 'what If' open minded approach is usually better than just trying to read the autocue.
