Stuck in a rut – Lateral Benefits of Training in Implant Dentistry

There are some lateral benefits that go beyond the profits or even clinical excitement of taking on a new discipline_a).jpg

If you are a practice owner who takes over in your new practice it’s exciting at least for a while.

All too soon though the shine wears off and you can be stuck in the grind of trying to run a dental business and all that goes along with that whilst trying to be a good practitioner.

There are some lateral benefits of taking on a new clinical skill and entering a new tribe that go beyond the profits or even clinical excitement of taking on a new discipline.

For myself in my 20 years in implant dentistry I have made some of the best friends I have known in my life. It’s a pleasure to meet up with people at different events and meetings and I have been able to call on people at some of the hardest times in my career. This doesn’t happen by accident, people share experiences, they go through a pathway of learning a new skill, the ups and the downs, the good and the bad and it makes relationships strong and deep. It’s been one of the greatest pleasures of my working life and one of the greatest advantages of being involved in implant dentistry.

We have watched over the last few years our delegates in our courses forge friendships together that will last forever. Like the ones you made at university. They will continue to communicate and meet up with each other moving forwards as they progress up the pyramid of implant dentistry to levels of competence greater than they could've ever imagined, strengthened by the knowledge they have learned together.

Dentistry can be a lonely ‘sport’ and one of the best ways to cure the loneliness is to share the experiences of improvement with others. If you would like to find out how we facilitate that through many different means at The Campbell Academy then let us know, we really understand the importance of this.
