I introduced the DES conference a little while ago, you can link to it here

It’s now time to introduce the speakers properly and hope that you feel it’s worthwhile to come along and see them. It should be a fantastic day.

Nick and Sarah Fahey

Nick Fahey is well known as one of the pioneers of digital dentistry in the UK, one of the earliest people to embrace digital dentistry fully in the practice. He was the first guy I ever knew to have a 3D printer (it’s about the size of a small fishing vessel). Sarah is his wife and practice manager, they’re going to give an 18 minute DES lecture about being at ‘the bleeding edge in UK dentistry’ and 50 years of experience at that edge.

You’ll learn more in 18 minutes in that lecture about being a pioneer in dentistry than you can possibly learn in 100 years of doing it yourself.

Peter Buchan

It seems like Pete and I have known each other forever, he is one of the finest role models in dentistry that I have ever met. Pete is a master craftsmen and an early adopter of Cerec technology but also an early adopter of the team philosophy, enhancing and growing team members to provide exceptional level of dentistry.

He recently moved his pioneering practice to new purpose designed facilities, he is a master teacher. Pete is going to give an 18-minute lecture on how dentists can build exceptional teams, empower and enhance the guys around them to make their life better and to make the care they give better.

Robin Carson

Rob is one of the nicest guys in dentistry you’re ever likely to meet and has one of the biggest smiles. He has taken the most unusual step of becoming highly qualified in implant dentistry and then re kindling an interest in endodontics (it almost never goes in that direction). Most implant dentists prefer to extract everything and put implants in, Rob has gone in the other direction to try to save teeth before moving to implants which will make him a force to be recognised going forwards in dentistry.

Completing an MSC in implant dentistry Rob is now working towards a post-graduate certificate in endodontics and will do an 18-minute lecture on his experiences in training and what he has learned.

Implant dentistry is no longer a hammer and everything else is a nut, it’s dentistry. Rob will be able to show that all aspects of dentistry are still equally valid in equal measures.

Alif Moosajee

Asif owns a specialist dental practice, Oakdale in Leicester. He is the author of the ‘smiling dentist’ the jargon pre-book for patients about clinical dentistry.

Alif’s interests include dental implants and Cerec and merging those together to provide guided surgery. He is a wonderful man and an example to everybody about how hard work and perseverance can allow you to reach the goals that you set. His lecture is titled ‘Moving Veneers and Other Thoughts’ and will be 18 minutes of insight into the difficulties of dentistry and restorative dentistry.

We will introduce the next 4 in a separate blog. If you're interested in attending the DES conference you can click here to find out more information and book your place.
