You can measure the strength, the depth and the character of your team in the way they react when something bad happens to one of them.

We had such an instance this week in our team (details not necessary for this story)

One of our guys suffered their own personal tragedy and needed the help and support of the rest of the team.

To watch people step up, offer themselves above and beyond what was expected and to support one of their colleagues, one of their team members, one of their friends is an extraordinary sight that I will never forget.

The funny thing is that this is a self-fulfilling prophecy because when things flip around (and inevitably they will) the person who was helped this week will help the others and so it will continue.

This is what a team is. This is what working together is. This is what supporting each other is.

This is how we move forward.
