'He spent his life being....'
He spent his life doing what?
I think the key word in the sentence is 'spent'.
I think if we considered life and time as a commodity that was running out that we would pay more attention to how we 'spend' it.
Watching peoples relationships with money fascinates me because they spend life to gain money, only to realise that life is the limited commodity and not money.
It's almost always possible to get more money, it's never ever possible to get more life.
If I developed a product that would give you another go at your twenties or your thirties would you buy it?
If I explained to you the difference between people's attitude to money when they're still earning and when the collect their pension would you understand it?
People who cash in their chips and collect their pension realise that they are on a diminishing amount of money. Their attitude to money entirely changes. If you have your attitude to life in the same way would it affect how you spent it?
Pretending or acting like the most important thing in your life is to accumulate money is to worship the worst of false Gods. I wonder how many people at the moment get to the other side and think "I wish i;d been more thrifty with my life"
