Andy Murray - Seventy Seven
A book bought for me for Christmas and an unusual book in its format and the way it's presented. A beautiful hardback with the most stunning photography, probably only accessible by Andy Murray himself. A story of Andy Murray's history (all be it with Dunblane only spoken about briefly) but with complete emphasis on winning Wimbledon, hence the title.
Andy Murray has named his new company Seventy Seven, it's obviously the biggest thing that will ever happen to him and he acknowledges this massively in the book. He acknowledges the fact that if he never wins another thing he will have done what he set out to do but he is still very hungry and extremely honest.
If you don't like Andy Murray I would urge you to read this book because he's a very likeable guy and hard to dislike once you understand him. If you do like him you will love this book.
I have huge respect for what Murray has achieved but more respect for the fact that he is all about playing tennis and not about commercial. He will happily give up huge financial inducements to concentrate properly on his tennis and he understands instinctively the importance of building a team.
I was disappointed recently to see that he had split up from Ivan Lendl but he knows what he's doing and what he requires and I think he will go from strength to strength.
This is a wonderful book and a wonderful object and thing, I would definitely get it in hard copy.
