During the complete and utter examination results sh*t show of 2020 the Campbell family were unlucky enough to have one daughter receiving A Level results and then one receiving GCSE results the following week.
We had the inside track on what was happening from a students perspective both from our own children and from their larger network of friends and I can confirm that the news doesn’t even reflect how much of a sh*t show this actually was.
That aside though we exited said sh*t show after Rosie received her GCSE results on Thursday and was lucky enough to get into Sixth form.
The conversation I had with Rosie on Thursday morning basically centred around “what do you plan to do with that for the next two years?”.
What do you do when you have an opportunity that you can apply to a recipe to take you to a different place?
And so I look at Rosie and think, “You have a format now and the building blocks to catapult you to somewhere else”.
Will you take the opportunity?
And then and ridiculously I realise the same applies to me.
We all get to write our next two year recipe starting today.
We all get to decide how we’d like that to play out and then get to work.
I might as well take the same time scale as Rosie and set myself on a two year path, enjoying the journey, spending time with old friends and making new ones and hoping for the best.
I will do the work that needs to be done and see where it takes me but the journey will be at least as important as the destination and probably much more so.
