Carrying on from the last few blogs, the delivery of information to a patient after a consultation is probably one of the most fundamental things you can possibly do. 

Following a conversation with Chris Barrow some years ago, The Campbell Clinic invented ‘the box’. It was the most extraordinary (and quite expensive) way to present a case to patients in the analogue/digital crossover age, where there was an SD card with our branding on it, with all the digital information, a printed treatment plan for the patient and even a teabag so that they could have a cup of tea while they looked at their plan. 

If you’re charging a patient anything more than a four figure sum for any sort of thing, you need to present it to them in a way that makes it seem like it’s worth it. 

Sending a letter to a patient, that they open over their cornflakes and splutter without the chance to ask any questions is utter garbage. 

As people begin to pick up the box around the country (they’ve been doing this for about 5 years and rebranding it for themselves) it’s gone now. 

Concerns about the environment, concerns about paper and the cost of printing etc makes the box more and more unviable. 

Patients don’t want that, they want a plan in their inbox as they get to their car in the car park, with all the information they need whether they choose to read it or not. 

There is a way to do this and a system to achieve this and we’ll show this to the guys that come on the course on Thursday. 

Imagine part of your consultation was actually the construction of that plan and with two clicks the patient could have it in their inbox (if you want to really impress them, you can get them to get their phone out and they can see it there before they leave your surgery). 

Imagine you weren’t doing plans in the evening - mental. 

It’s all part of a jigsaw and a process of what a consultation should look like. 

A consultation is not sitting with a patient showing them a model or some photographs, it’s a hundred billion more things than that.
