Everyone wants opportunity (seemingly).

I think sometimes people mix up what opportunity is.

For opportunity (at least for some people), read salary, or holiday, or work-life balance or ease of effort.

Opportunity is none of these things.

Opportunity is a key that's lying in front of a door, sometimes hard to find, sometimes in the weeds, or in a bucket, down a hole.

Opportunity is finding the key, electively looking for and finding the key, and then being prepared to pick the key up and to put it in the door, and unlock the door, and open the door, and step through the door.

The process of finding and utilising opportunity is difficult.

There will be many failures along the way, many heartaches, many difficult choices and difficult conversations to have; the thing about opportunity is, though, that if it is there, there is a responsibility that comes with that opportunity.

A responsibility to seize the opportunity, and then to look after yourself and the people around you in order to maximise the advantage of the opportunity that you have found.

Often, it's the responsibility part that people don't buy into.

“If only I could win the lottery” - I'd be much happier now.

Funny, isn't it? That all the research shows that people's level of happiness after winning the lottery almost always returns to where it was before they won the lottery.
