Steve Peters, the psychiatrist who transformed British Cycling (and other sports) and is famous for ‘The Chimp Paradox’ which talks about 'the helicopter'.

He talks about how getting higher up above whatever the problem situation or circumstance is how you ‘eliminate the chimp’

This is something we all need to learn to do, to take us out of circumstances where we are mired in the problem instead of looking for the solution.

Will this be something you are bothered about a week, a month, a year from now?

If not, why the fuss now?

As we have the opportunity to get further up the organisations in which we work, so this becomes the job.

The problems themselves become a metaphor for the overall direction of where we’re going.

Never to be dealt with on a one-to-one basis as a metaphor, but a metaphor none the less.

Will the leak in the ceiling of my ‘new’ house still be a problem two years from now? No.

Then why was it keeping me awake last night?
