Some people say this applies to offence.
I think that's not true; I think if you try hard enough, you can offend someone, you can GIVE them offence.
The opposite, though, is true for responsibility. Responsibility is taken. You can't force someone to take responsibility; they have to grab it themselves, but when they do, something magical happens.
