Sometimes I find myself in meetings or interactions with people, and I wonder how I got here.
I wonder why I'm wasting my time talking to someone for whom I have limited respect, empathy or connection, and I think that all I want to do is to get somewhere else where I have more of those things.
Sometimes (perhaps rarely now) I find myself entering into a meeting with those feelings before I start.
It's not useful, that, not productive.
If you have agreed to the meeting, or you are forced into the meeting, it's best to make the best of it.
Maybe, just maybe, sometimes it is possible to make a silk purse out of something other than silk; maybe the best approach is to be open-minded and play nice and see what happens.
The worst thing that could happen is you may learn something; the best thing that could happen, well, could be great.
Maybe that's unlikely, but unlikely great things are a joy and a gift, and you'll never find them if you're not in the game.
Sometimes we all have to do things that we'd rather not; that's part of the job and part of the life.
