We all live in a world where money is required to be exchanged for goods and services.
That is not about to change any time soon.
This last week on the Bootcamp course, we talked about this a lot.
They're chasing the money all the time, or they're not chasing the money enough?
I have loads of wonderful conversations in my job with great inspirational people, but in the end, it's really important to know that it's my responsibility to pay the bills.
In order to take that responsibility seriously, you have to know what the bills are and what they're for, you have to understand how money comes in and how and why it goes out.
You need to have a system that lets you know that there is a bit more money coming in than there is going out; that's the fundamental basis of business, but it is not the meaning of business.
Profit is like oxygen to your business; it is absolutely essential for life, but it's not the meaning of life.
More and more, I want to move to a situation where the doing of my work involves speaking to people that I like and trust and respect, which allows me to feed my soul, but also to pay my bills.
I guess it's the same thing again and again: choose your customers/clients/colleagues.
Choose your life.
