One Month to Failure

On the 17th November our Failure Conference will take place to a select audience in Nottingham.

We have a range of people speaking at the conference and there will be more about those in a separate blog next week to introduce each of the speakers individually.

With a month to go though and still some bums to put on seats I wanted to tell you about a conversation I had in my office with one of my patients on Monday.

Chris will be speaking at the Failure Conference in the last lecture of the day beside me on stage.

He was treated with an immediate full arch restoration at the practice approximately 2 years ago and suffered a serious complication. He returned for reconstruction and four of his implants came out when the bridge was unscrewed.

This was a disastrous day for everyone both him and us.

Chris is the most wonderful man and he is happy to talk about his failings and experiences through that process. Most of all he want to explain why he decided not to exact vengeance on myself, the practice or anyone else who had dealt with his treatment. He saw the only way forwards was to work with us to improve things and get it right.

I am delighted to say that at the end of his treatment it was a huge success but this isn’t the outcome we wanted to talk about and share. It’s the process of what goes on inside a patient’s head when failure occurs in the practice. I don’t think you’re likely to get this lecture anywhere else or at any other time. We would love you to come along to the conference.

It’s on the 17th November in Nottingham at a great venue with some great people. It coincides with the charity ball the following day. If you were thinking of coming or even just considering it then click here to have a look and book your place.
