Going to the gym is expensive, and riding your bike for four hours is expensive, too.
That four hours is like a session during which I could be treating patients; I can do the math on that.
If I ride my bike on a Monday morning instead of seeing patients, I could earn this much money, which could add up to this much money over time, which is a huge loss, so really, I shouldn't ride my bike.
But then, on the other hand, if I stay healthier and happier for longer, I can work later and still have the time to enjoy riding my bike.
Retire at 50 (I've already missed that). I'll ride my bike four times a week and work until I'm 60, 70, or 80; I have no choice in my mind and absolutely no conflict about how good the investment in myself would be.
