Alison and I saw a lot of live music last year in different places in different styles.

Alison will buy tickets for something that she hears a snippet of, and then off we trot later on, running into Rock City at the last minute like I've written about many times before.

Alfie Templeman arrived on the scene two or three years ago on Radio One. A young guy making music from his bedroom got his friends together in a band.

He's done well with a few tracks but not really hit the big time, so there were tickets for a relatively new venue in Nottingham called Metronome, which is part of Nottingham Trent University, and we pitched up there again, rushing into town to try and find it with a, with Grace and her boyfriend, Callum.

He was magic, the venue was magic.

It's a tiny little place for 300 or 400 people but brand new, so two nice bars so you can actually get a drink, you can actually find somewhere to stand and see the band, and they just had a whale of a time these young guys, they are just loving life touring around the UK (and other places) playing small gigs, getting enough money to survive realising that maybe it will or maybe it won't last forever but loving the journey along the way.

He's all over the place, Alfie Templeman, supporting people and doing his own thing.

If you get a chance to see him (he'll probably be near your town somewhere soon) then just go and have a look, it's a joy. It'll make you wish you were in your twenties again if you're not.
