Today we are 6 years old.

On the 31st of January 2020, we opened the clinic.

We actually didn't open the clinic because it wasn't finished, and we didn't have a CQC registration, which had been delayed. But what we did do was run a masterclass in aesthetic implant dentistry in the academy space.

It was one of the most successful masterclasses we've ever done; it was so full of people, everybody had a tour, and we did some video. People slapped us on the back and congratulated us, even though the patient car park still hadn't been block paved.

We would open the following week, clinically, after a CQC was actually rushed through due to the mistakes that they made, and then we would have an open day on the 11th of March.

By that stage, people were more than whispering about this virus thing that was coming, but it's hard to believe the road we've travelled from that time to this.  It's also hard to believe what's happened to us all personally, or to the country or to the world. The things we thought about and worried about in 2000 seem so far away, but the things we worry about now are no less acute, hurtful or terrible than the ones we had then.

It's been extraordinary, though, nothing short of absolutely, completely extraordinary. The last 6 years have been one of the greatest privileges I could ever have imagined, and as always, with privilege comes responsibility and the difficulty and huge ups and huge downs.

That is the game, though; that is the game that we play. The alternative is to stop.

And to stop is to what?

To do what?

That actually is the question.

Six years ago, we were out on our arse, and now we are the opposite of that. I wonder, where will we be 6 years from now?
