I write this blog every day (Correction, I dictate it every day).
There are times and occasions where I have to do ten at once; that's how it works when someone else publishes it for you or looks after it for you, as Super Millie does, and so you have to sit down and have the discipline of producing 10 of these if you want to be the guy that produces a blog every day more than 4000 times.
I thought about having a break as I head towards finishing for my sabbatical (now postponed from the 19th to the 23rd of December for reasons I'll tell later), but I don't want to; I want to retain and maintain the discipline of going every day.
What I find with these is that the first time is always the best time.
As I've explained before, I dictate the blogs now on Slack, which transcribes it from Scottish English into a bit better English, English, and then maybe they can make it look pretty, pick out any horrible words that I shouldn't be using and find the most appropriate picture to go with it.
If I dictate it on Slack, though, and Slack isn't working, and I missed the first one, I sometimes miss the blog altogether.
Sometimes, if I'm halfway through a bike ride in the shed and I think of something, I actually have to get off because I know that if I try and leave it till the end, I'll miss it.
I use notes on my phone to jot down daily ideas that I'd like to write about, but even when I have the greatest ideas and jot them down, it never quite works out the way I thought in the minute.
And so, it has to be this way: I'm not a perfectionist. I won't spend ages curating it until it's absolutely perfect, and for that reason, perhaps it's at a 'lower level' than it would be if my character was different.
But for me, almost always, the first time is the best time.
