You control your diary, almost certainly, even if you think you don't.
You control the people that you spend time with and interact with, the people whom you invest your time in.
A very easy distinction to make is to decide to spend time with people who feed you or people who eat you.
It’s impossible to completely exclude the eaters, but it's definitely possible to manage the time you spend.
A very, very wise man once told me (my long-term friend and haven't seen for ages, Peter Buchan from Edinburgh), ‘I only associate with educated, motivated people’.
I loved it. In the first instance, it sounds pompous, but it's not; it's just a choice. That isn't rich people, wealthy people or privileged people; it's educated (anyone can educate themselves now if they choose) and motivated; anyone can motivate themselves if they choose.
When you wake up in the morning, if you're having a cup of tea just as you get going, look at your diary and just cut out one eater and add one feeder; a year from now, your life will be completely transformed.
