Way back in about 2003, I convinced my then NHS principal to phone a guy and ask him if he could buy his practice.
I worked upstairs in one of the toughest places in Nottingham up the back stairs where someone once threw dog shit at me, and I decided that it wasn't fit to be a dental practice anymore and explained to my boss I wanted to go somewhere else unless we worked somewhere else.
Against his better judgement, he called the guy, and six months later, we moved into that practice that my boss now owned.
About five years later, when my boss and his wife sold the practices that integrated into IDH I left in very short order.
I phoned up a guy half a mile from my house who had a nice little bungalow, A specialist perio practice, working about 2.5 days a week and asked him if he wanted me to come in with a view to being a partner and to bring the implant service and now we have The Campbell Clinic and The Campbell Academy.
That story has repeated through my life, literally a thousand times and so many other stories that I've heard from other people.
If you want something, don't expect the universe to bring it to you, just ask; be prepared to be disappointed or turned down, but the more often you ask, the more often you get.
