Our environment affects us, positively or negatively.
This has been proven many times over, and it's the reason why when you see the documentary of football clubs, the training facilities are set up in specific ways, having taken advice from clever people to put motivational things on the wall, to keep people on point as often as possible.
Cleanliness, tidiness, orderliness, these things are important, particularly if we want to do our best work.
This applies to the tools that we have on our desktops and our computer screens, to the way we clean the toilets at our businesses.
It all adds up to branding.
It's not a substitute for leadership or example setting; they are critical and perhaps the most important aspects, but it's a metaphor. If you give a s**t enough to keep things tidy, if you give a s**t enough to put your values on the wall, and then you live by those things.
Then you can start to create something brilliant.
Words on the wall mean nothing, but if they help to remind you to be the person you're supposed to be, then they mean everything.
