The world is burning, or so it seems, depending upon where you get your newsfeed and your information.

Anything's happening that we would rather were not. Anything's upsetting the apple cart. Changing the life that we thought we had. Into something else.

Dentistry is still in difficulty and in trouble. Lots and lots of people are talking about being quiet. “White space”, which is the new buzz phrase in dentistry over the past few years, is expanding almost everywhere and for anyone you speak to who has anything other than an NHS contract.

The government is looking at bringing 5000 new dentists into the country in the next 5 years. Regulation is changing. Compliance is changing. Workforce is changing.

It's difficult.

Anyone can captain a ship in calm water. That's the easy part. Looking back, for lots of people in dentistry, the last little while was very calm (even though I didn't think it was).

It's probably about to get rough. Or rougher than it's been for a while. This is when the leaders earn their money. Not when it's easy.

But when it's difficult.

Are you ready?
