The Outlaw Half cometh!!!

Today, It is here, today is the day I have waited for since September 2013 when I scrambled to enter the race.

Today is the day when it was all going to come together in the greatest event I have ever done in terms of fitness and achievement.

Today is the day when I will be at 12.5 stones, running 1:30 for a half marathon and riding 23mph average on my bike for 56 miles.  Today I swim in the lake like a fish.

Except today I don't.

Today I am 13.5 stones, today I am not a fish, today I have a sore leg where I fell down a rabbit hole out running 3 weeks ago.

Today I remember I am not Superman.

Today I line up on the start at 06:30, walk into the lake and celebrate that I am healthy enough to be there at all.

Today I recognise that, despite all the hardships and obstacles I have encountered since September, I am here and I am doing it and I am "daring greatly"

Today I remember that 20 years ago I was 18 stones.

Today I race, I smile and I celebrate at the end the way I always do after these (with tears).

Good luck, race hard and race safe to everyone who races today.

PS, I will sort out my 4:45 debts this week..
