Michael Bornstein is a world authority on Cone Beam CT and has been involved in the publication of most of the guidelines related to CBCT that have been developed since its introduction to dentistry.

He is 40.

On the 5th June 2014 (by hook or by crook) The Campbell Academy in Nottingham managed to put together a Masterclass for 17 dentists with 6 hours of Michael Bornstein.

According to Michael, this was the first time he had ever spoken to a group for that length of time and certainly never a group that small. This is a concept we hope to develop in the future. That day Michael covered the basis of CBCT and the difference between CBCT and medical CT. He covered anatomy in CBCT and the diagnosis of disease, he covered its applications throughout dentistry including Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and Implant Dentistry.

In the evening at a joint ITI Study Club with Jason Wong's Study Club in Grantham he explored CBCT and its use in Implant Dentistry and referenced this to the recent Consensus Conference of the ITI for best practice in the literature.

Most of the literature has been written by Michael Bornstein.

I had seen Michael lecture on two occasions in Bern but only for short periods at a time. I was able to spend the Wednesday evening having dinner with Michael and two other colleagues. He is a wonderful man. Not affected by grade or materialism, committed to his work which he loves with a passion. The evening before the Masterclass we sat and asked the question why every Dental School in Europe doesn't have a Professor of dental ethics and how we can expect to have an ethical profession without those positions in place.

Going forward The Campbell Academy will develop the Masterclass format like this. With a session limited to 20 practitioners and a World Class speaker on our doorstep.

Make sure you sign up to the blog to receive notifications of this in the future.
