"The real things to worry about never crossed your troubled mind, these are the things that blindside you on an idle Tuesday afternoon" Baz Luhrmann - Wear Sunscreen - 1999
Some years ago I read a series of blog posts by the great Chris Barrow on missiles in your life which blow things apart.
A cruise missile's is satellite control travelling at enormous speed is designed to seek out and systematically and specifically destroy it's target rendering the functions of the co-lateral infrastructure useless.
Life missiles carry the same sort of devastating impact and arrive from nowhere at high speed. In my life these missiles come with different degrees of high explosive but come they do… sometimes huge, sometimes smaller. To my perception they come more frequently but that is probably my perception.
You can wander through life limiting your exposure to these but it is my belief that if you do that it's liable that the first missile that hits you will be the largest one and perhaps, to be hit by smaller missiles as you go along prepares you for the greater impacts at a later stage. This happens to all of us a lot of the time and it now appears that this is the game.
The missiles never get smaller anymore so I suppose it is time to get better at dealing with them.
