The Theory of Everything
First film of the year with Stuart Reekie and I’m definitely going to hit a film a month with Stuart this year regardless of all else, it is high up my priority list.
It was my turn to choose in the system we have where the other person arrives blind not knowing what film they’re seeing. It was a difficult choice, I had already seen The Hobbit and Stuart hadn’t and I was desperate to see it again but I had to step outside my comfort zone and pick a film I thought would be moving and inspirational. I was not wrong and I wasn’t let down.
I believe that this story was written by Stephen Hawking’s wife and there is no question that within the film she is an absolute hero. The story is quite extraordinary and touching and the struggles and difficulties that that woman went through to raise her family and protect her husband is nothing short of inspirational.
Stephen Hawking is obviously an inspirational character who has overcome huge difficulties but I think it is clear to see that he would never have been in the position he was without this lady.
This doesn’t have to been seen on the big screen, it is one that will come out and resonate for years and years to come and is one that school children should probably see in their later years of Secondary School to ensure that they understand the meaning of duty and sacrifice and how individual people play their role in life.
This is a film, which deeply touched me, much in the way that Dallas Buyers Club did at the start of 2014. It’s hard to see this being bettered throughout this year.
