The Campbell Academy Courses – Why our Sinus Grafting Live Skills course?

I first attended a sinus grafting course in Gratz in Austria with Geistlich Bio Materials back in the middle of the 2000s.
This was an amazing experience on lots of levels, the cadaver surgery, extraordinary Professor to delegate ratio and another cultural healthcare experience. I took a lot out of that course and then attended another sinus grafting course at the University of Bern some years later to be able to compare notes between the two.
I was very keen, after a period, to be able to provide the same sort of education in the UK because at that stage I felt this was lacking and the same approaches were not present. It’s for that reason that we decided to set up the Sinus Grafting Live Skills Course in the UK but only after we had managed to establish a facility to provide high level cadaver surgery teaching with maxillofacial surgery input.
The Campbell Academy course takes place 21st - 23rd April 2016 and is a three-day Live Skills Course which encompasses didactic teaching with lectures, discussion and model surgery followed by cadaver anatomy and surgery at The West Midlands Surgical Training Centre.
The West Midlands Surgical Training Centre gives us the opportunity and the facility to be able to provide the very best possible cadaver teaching with two invited maxillofacial surgeons, Craig Wales and Colin MacIver from South Glasgow Hospital who provide exceptional teaching in head and neck anatomy, sinus grafting techniques and endoscopic techniques to show how sinus grafts are actually carried out. The cadavers are specially prepared by Colin and Craig to provide full access to one side to allow the first sinus graft to be carried out without soft tissue involvement.
On our course each delegate gets and individual cadaver to work on so they don’t have to share and are able to provide sinus grafting on both sides.
We have exceptional input from the dental supply companies including NSK, Hu Friedy, Straumann, Geistlich and Henry Schein to be able to provide and extraordinary experience in surgery in sinus grafting for both open and closed techniques.
The course finishes with live surgery carried out at The Campbell Clinic using our now well-known audiovisual set up which allows you to see sinus grafting being carried out by both myself and Andy in an environment where you are able to ask questions and discuss the case as the surgery proceeds.
The course is really only for people who are already experienced and adept in the placement of implants as sinus grafting is a complex technique which requires reasonable experience in order to proceed but it is one of our most popular courses which gains exceptional feedback with a very high educator to delegate ratio and incredible attention to detail.
