Random Access Memories - Daft Punk

Random_Access_Memories

I have been luck with the albums so far that I have re-explored because as I have listened to all of them they have gotten better and better but this might not always be the case as I continue to do this.

This album is utterly extraordinary. I would not be the type of person who would listen to this kind of music. I would listen to dance music but not listen to 'funk' but this is terrific and is backed up by a series of YouTube videos called 'Daft Punk / Random Access Memories / The Collaborators' that chats to everybody involved in the making of the album which is actually ground breaking.

Pharrell Williams is fantastic in his collaborators video but the one that catches the attention the most is Giorgio Moroder who is a producer who used to produce Donna Summer among other people and has been around since the 60's.

The song 'Giorgio' which is track number 3 is the one which really caught my attention the most because it has throughout it, a monologue by Giorgio himself explaining how he became involved in electronic music.

'Give life back to music' is track 1 which sucks you straight into the album but there are one or two tracks which didn't really do it for me. 'Instant crush' is amazing, 'Lose yourself to dance' may be the best song on the album 'Get lucky' is an amazing track also and it finishes with a track called 'Contact' which makes you feel like you're floating in space is utterly tremendous. I listened to it over and over again and I didn't get bored.

The essence of this album is that it is sci fi for music, it is way ahead of its time. It was released in 2013 and is still way ahead of its time.

You need this in your collection, everybody needs it.

Next weeks is Modern Nature by The Charlatans but I can tell you already that it's not quite shaping up to be as good as this.
