A quick revisit to the Tech Stack

Some time ago, I wrote a series of blogs about the phenomenon known as the tech stack in business. You can read the first one here and follow it through.

It's time to look at that again because it moves forward more quickly every single week, and in fact, in the past six weeks, I've been reviewing additions to our tech stack as follows:

1) BrightPlans

This is an Eastern European dental initiative run by Tibor, an expert in dental tourism.

BrightPlans is the opportunity to build better treatment plans for your patients which are graphically beautiful and give them a better explanation of the value of their treatments.

We've looked at it for quite a period to see if we can integrate it, but it's not for us because it doesn't fit our tech stack the way we want, and it would actually create more work than it would solve. However, it might work for you.

2) Chairsyde

An initiative ran parallel with Dentally and Henry Schein to develop something similar to BrightPlans. Only on version two, at the moment but version three will be much better.

We'll likely head down that road regarding treatment plans provided digitally because we're ready for that, and our systems are ready to integrate that.

Note (We need API links with Webhooks to link into Dentally, Dengro, and our software systems. If it does that, it does things automatically so that we don't have to. That's why it has to work, and BrightPlans wouldn't work. I can talk more about this later if you ever come and see us.)

3) Digital TCO

This is something brand new to me this week. It was sent by my friend in Glasgow.

This is where we're headed with AI and case note-taking; everybody must keep up.

I'm fully aware that there are tonnes and tonnes of dictation software that you can use for your case notes. (We use Slack to great efficiency.)

Digital TCO looks slightly different because it records the consultation and turns it into notes just to leave the bit you don't want and automatically drops it into your case notes.

It's really quick, really good.

If your nurse is good at editing, you're on a real winner here.

It's not that I'm recommending any of these for your practice; what I'm saying is that the AI associated with Digital TCO will make it better and better and better, which will also apply to Chairsyde as we move forward.

What you need is to make sure that your tech stack is malleable, adjustable, and agile enough to start adding some of these technologies, which are going to make your life better and better and better.

We are past the days when your server sat below the reception desk, and the only reason you had it was to keep periapical radiographs on it.

If you're not with the tech revolution and starting to learn and understand it, you really should get there or start to plan your exit within the next five years.
