The Sine Wave

I like the image of the sine wave.

It's a metaphor in picture form for life, a peak, a trough, a peak, a trough. Sometimes you're going up, sometimes you're going down. Not too high with the highs, not too low with the lows.

Trying to remember that when you're down at the bottom, in all likelihood, there will be another top somewhere else, but similarly, understanding when you're at the top, you're just so close to being at the bottom.

Everybody wants to level it out, make it flat, but there is no colour in that. There is no excitement, no experience, no struggle or no quest.

Balance is the key, but balance is elusive. For most of us, just as we reach the point of balance, we stick a rod into the spokes and derail the whole thing, only to go to the bottom to come to the top again.

The people who are disappointed that their life does not run on an even keel with no disruption are the people who are deluded and destined for unhappiness.

Embracing the sign, the wave, the deviations. That is just where it's at.
