Boring Governance

The person who sets up the business is very rarely good at the governance.

Governance is so critical to the smooth running of any business that it's something we should teach our children.

I learned all about governance by accident, by being a governor and being involved in school governance for 17 years.

I never went into that to learn, but I stayed in it so long, because I did. In our world, governance forms important structures in every aspect of our business.

The governance of finance, clinical governance. The governance of counting how you mark it. The governance of human resources and predictability in looking after a team.

As I said above, though, the person who sets up the business is never good at it.

The people who succeed in business understand that they need people within their business who are good at it.

Tomorrow, when you return to work, I'd start to look for those, because they're rare, but they're precious, and they allow you to do the things that you're good at, while still having the stability behind you.

Governance is a thing, a word that people shy away from, but good governance is beautiful; it's where peace and happiness are.

Keep looking They're worth it.
