Worthy Rivals

Simon Sinek taught me this, but it's an old concept.

Michael Jordan knew it; he knew it instinctively.

If you watch the documentary on Netflix, you'll see how he does it time and time again.

It's one thing to try to carve a road through the universe to a better place, making your mark and being as good as you can, but it's another thing to be spurred on by someone else.

It's the reason why guys who want to break the mile record have a pacemaker.

Trying to do it on your own is one thing, but chasing someone else or competing, which holds you to account to get up in the morning and go faster, is another thing altogether.

Worthy rivals are the best rivals because rivals are one thing, but rivals who are worthy of your attention, worthy of your effort, and worthy of your pain and suffering and sacrifice.

They take you to places that no one else can take you to.
