Today is the first day of the business course. It is Thursday 27th February.
We’re able to present building the modern independent dental practice in our own modern independent dental practice.
This is a day long dreamed of and long thought about.
I guess I thought that the building would be finished by now and that the outsides would be done and everything would be perfect and of course, that was unrealistic to expect just a few weeks in of what was a stressed start point to get things finished.
The truth is though, that is the way it is.
I have never had a perfect week running the business before, so why should I have a perfect week now.
Running a business and certainly running a modern independent dental business is about learning how to overcome the challenges and level off some of the bumps, understanding that the bumps are always there.
This course is about being honest, about sharing experiences and the diverse range of experiences from the group of people on this course will be staggering and outstanding. I am pretty sure that we will learn more from the guys that come than they will learn from us, but I am sure that they will learn enough to think that they have had value.
This is one of the best things that I do within my work, one of my favorite things, to meet people and learn from their experiences and to share our experiences honestly with them.
We have made lifelong friends through this course and there is another group of people turning up today, who will start again.
As I construct this blog while walking past my office to go into the academy... It's show time!
