One of the side effects of Sab 5.0 has been the ability to ‘get ahead of myself a bit’.
I was invited out for lunch tomorrow by a friend who I haven't seen for ages and also for a coffee tomorrow by a long-time friend that I have seen recently, and I was able to accept both of those by doing tomorrows work today.
It's funny that I'd lost the ability to do that.
I subscribe to and wrote much about results only work environments (ROWE’s) that place where you work, where you give yourself tasks to do in a week and if you happen to do them quicker, then you have a lot of free time you didn't appreciate.
I fell into the trap of filling that free time with more work and not accepting the fact that if I did tomorrow's work today, it would be possible to do something else tomorrow that I didn't have planned before.
That is such a joy, and actually, as I think on, a situation that all of us can achieve, it’s just a matter of being realistic with what you think you're able to do in the time that you're given and prioritising the things that feed your soul as well as your bank account.
