What will you do tomorrow to make it unforgettable?
Many of the days of our lives go unnoticed and fall away, like a wave running off the beach.
It doesn’t take much to put a flag in the sand, to give you a memory that reminds you that things were good.
I remember cresting the tops of little hills on a bike when the sun was coming up.
I remember laughing uncontrollably at books with my kids.
I remember the way my wife looked at times at certain things we did.
I remember heartache and misery and happiness and joy.
I can’t stand the amnesia of blocks of time that I’m missing so I try to put things in on an almost day-to-day basis that will make me remember the time that I’ve had.
I’ll never remember what day it was when I watched yet another episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Callum (must watch less) but I remember the time that I went to the cinema in the middle of the night to watch Lord of the Rings before it was released with two of my friends as a guest of my next door neighbour (who has sadly passed away).
Picking out the things of significance, the memory makers, that’s priceless and that’s worth more than any of the money you could make tomorrow.
