After Steve Jobs returned to Apple for the second time after he had been kicked out of Apple, the first time by the chief executive he appointed, he started to consolidate.
This meant that he reduced the product lines from something like 350 to 7 and the staff from 100% to 20%
His rationale was that it was overcomplicated, and nobody understood what they were doing, and he only wanted the best members of the team.
He was asked what he was doing by a biographer at that time, and he answered, "I'm preparing to take on the next opportunity". When they asked what that next opportunity was, he replied, "I don't know, I'll find that out when it comes".
Steve Jobs was ready for the next opportunity, whatever that might be, and the point about opportunities is that you don't know what they are until they arrive.
And so the question is, "Are you ready?".
