The joy of not being finished

Finishing doesn’t work for me, it makes me sad.

I’ll be finished entirely soon enough and I’d like to put that off a little bit longer.

I like the doing and the reflecting, the improving and the trying again.

I like the planning and the starting and the excitement of wondering how it will turn out.

I don’t mind the disappointment when it doesn’t quite go to plan because that gives me the opportunity to find out why and try to make it better.

My contentment exists in knowing that I have another opportunity to try again, to get a little bit better, to work a little bit harder.

Sometimes I wonder when that will stop and when I won’t want to do that anymore. I suspect I know the answer to that.
