The adventure game

I think adventure and seeking adventure is just a narrative which can also be described as curiosity.

In our adventure in France last week, we had to first envision what we wanted to do from a long way out (last October). We had to be curious about what it would be like and what we would need and what we would take and how we would train and how we would get ready and then we had to plan.

There was four of us and we could spread the planning across the board including all the logistics (which are huge) that relate to a project like that and when all of that’s in place you go and you overcome the challenges that you inevitably encounter which might be to do with travelling or might be to do with the kit that you have or might be to do with turning up at places and you can’t get in or might be to do with overcoming illness or injury or issues or problems or nerves or fear or any of those other things.

The last part of the adventure though is to soak it in and reflect on it and to look at the pictures and share the stories so that when you envision the next one (and there always should be a next one) it will be better from the experience that you gained from the last adventure.

(I know that you understand that this is a metaphor which goes way beyond cycling).
