Responsibility is taken. It's never given.
We have a choice to grab it and run with it or not to pick it up.
It can never be forced upon an individual or enticed or bought or conjured up.
Reputation is given and never taken.
You never, ever, achieve the reputation you want by taking it for yourself.
Your actions over months and years and lifetimes allow a reputation to be given to you by others.
Trust is given, never taken. You’re trusted because of what you do, not because of what you want.
Authority is given once responsibility is taken.
Through all of this it’s worth remembering that taking the responsibility and holding it and accepting it are the things that build responsibility and trust and reputation.
