Summer Recess

For those of you who have followed us through The Campbell clinic and The Campbell academy journey, here’s a few things that will be happening through the summer.

For us, the summer is generally a development time, far from being a time where we’re able to put our feet up and relax for a few months it’s when we get all of the work done, for the time when we deliver at other parts of the year.

A year cycle is generally quieter in the summer, but it’s mental from September through to March in the clinic and the academy term, then from July to June and September to November. What do we do with the down time?

Here’s some things that will be going on this year.

The Campbell Academy

  1. We’re reviewing all of the courses that we provide and improving them again, changing, looking at speakers and planning the venues
  2. We’ll be designing a huge, brand new big course in the end of September in digital implant dentistry, worth the space, it is a cracker.
  3. Completely redesigning the business course for 2020, to be released in September time too.
  4. Pretty much all of our courses will be in our new purpose-built facility, starting from next year with more and more courses developing over time.

The Campbell Clinic

  1. Over the summer we will be implementing a new system of objectives and key results (thanks Alex) for the highest level of the business to be dropped down by the time it gets to next April.
  2. We will be developing new products, taking them to the new clinic.
  3. We’ll be continuing to develop and refine our human assets (previously human recourses) structure in the practice as we go beyond 50 members of the team.
  4. We’ll be expanding our senior leadership team (basically our board).
  5. We’ll be planning everything to do with the Campbell clinic’s new premises, which is coming at us fast.

The Campbell Clinic Research

  1. In the research area of the stuff that we do, our first paper has been accepted for publication, so that is “impressive” and will be in print by the end of the year.
  2. We’ll be refocusing our approach and pulling all our projects together to see which are the most worthwhile.
  3. We’ll be continuing to work with University of Hong Kong and Michael Bornstein on publications related to that and some developing projects too.
  4. We’ll be continuing focusing on detailed work on aesthetic implant dentistry, sinus grafting and immediate full arch reconstruction.
  5. We’ll be working with University of Geneva to develop a poster presentation to be presented at the ITI world congress and other poster presentations for other Congresses.

TCC Lab

  1. The biggest thing in the lab is the redevelop of the whole lab project into the new practice.
  2. We’ve started to print our own jaws for pre-surgery analysis in patient education (this is hugely exciting).
  3. Social legacy projects - Over the summer, we’ll go to 300,000 people in East Africa who get emergency dental care as a result of The Campbell clinic. Assisting in the assessment of the feasibility of taking the same type of model to other countries in Africa.
  4. We have our first work experience students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the practice throughout other charity workload.

I have a big lecture to do in London on the 29th November for Geistlich and will be travelling China again, next year, we’re teaching the VT’s in summertime and the other guys in the team will host of other external lecture commitments coming forwards.

Not quite a summer recess, just a different focus of work.
