Still failing?

So, we’re going to try this thing again. Two years after the last one.

We’re going to run another ‘Learning from Failure Conference’ on 15thNovember 2019.

For the record, this is a commitment to improve things for all of us. It’s a not-for-profit conference (we’ve lost money the last two times we’ve ran it) but we feel it makes a contribution and makes things better and it’s something we want to do.

We’ll re-design again this year, have it at the same venue – The Carriage Hall – and have speakers throughout the day who are happy to talk about individual clinical things that have gone wrong, major clinical things that have gone wrong and other philosophical aspects. We’ll try and get some speakers from outside of dentistry so that we can have this as a philosophical, ethical, complaints handling clinical conference where you can get loads of CPD.

More importantly, it’s full of people who are happy to talk about what’s gone wrong and what could go better.

It’s quite a revolutionary concept, to allow people to crawl out from under their stones, to turn their back on the darkness and to embrace the fact that we’re all human and we all make mistakes. If we’re allowed to discuss these things in an open environment then we get better and the care for our patients gets better.

So in the first instance this is a call for speakers.. I am looking for eight speakers to do about a half an hour slot to talk about something to do with learning from failure.

The brief is wide open, you don’t even have to be a dentist but there is no speaker fee (we can’t afford it on a not-for-profit I’m afraid but there is expenses for travelling and hotel accommodation if required) so please reply or comment on this blog or email me on colin@campbell-clinic.co.uk .

We’d love to have you. We’ll gauge interest by the responses to this and then we’ll move on from there.

It’s limited to 80 places as always and the last two have been career defining, amazing events so let’s go better for number three!
