Something about Oil Tankers

Oil tanker

Usually the course of an oil tanker takes ages to change.

They take miles and miles to slow down, then ages to turn around to go in the opposite direction. If you then realise you’re then going the wrong way still, they take ages and ages again.

Funny though, sometimes what happens with an oil tanker is that it gets picked up, turned around and pushed fast the wrong way, the other way or a different way.

The only thing to do then is to plan for the slow down and plan for the turn.

Despite the fact that you want to be going in the other direction, sometimes it’s important to realise that you have to carry on in this way for a while, whilst you slow down and plot your new course.

It might be fitness, it might be your work, it might be being a parent, it might be where you live – it could be any number of things.

We live in a society where we should be able to type in a password and fix it right now but that is just not reasonable.

Take a breath, have a seat, decide where it is you would like to go (and don’t change your mind too often) and then send a message to the Captain to make plans for that.
