Seeking out the conversation – Part 2

Colin Campbell

Contrary to yesterday’s blog which you can read here at the same event I made a new friend in an unaccepted place.

I’ve known this person from a distance for some time and admired one or two of the things that I had seen but never had the opportunity to chat or meet or for our paths to properly cross.

They crossed at the Osteology symposium on Friday and I had the chance to spend a fantastic afternoon working side by side with someone who just shares my world view in so many ways and just seems to get what I’m about and why.

It doesn’t matter who it was, and it doesn’t matter what the conversations were but what matters is that sometimes when you put yourself outside of your own comfort zone, outside of your bubble you come across people who you don’t quite get, and you come across people that you do.

Going forwards I might get the opportunity to work with this individual more closely and in other things and I guess that’s how it works.

Building a network of friends and colleagues who share your ethics, and your ideas is one of the great privileges of staying in work for the longest possible time.
