Following on from yesterday’s blog, I thought it would be worth chucking out a few resources to try and stimulate our imagination a bit more, because it's imagination and creativity we need to survive the current circumstances we find ourselves navigating through (resilience would be helpful to).
The loss of imagination from childhood to adulthood was never better described (in my humble opinion),than in His Dark Material trilogy by Philip Pullman , but you can watch the first series on BBC iPlayer.
These are the books that taught me about the danger of loss of imagination and the importance of creativity, pretty much over everything else.
To read or to listen to, you should try A Whole New Mind by Daniel H. Pink, that’s an extraordinary resource which changes the way you look at things.
If you were misguided or underwhelmed by the importance of creativity, then you should read or listen to Out of Our Minds by Ken Robinson and if you wanted some perspective about how bad things could possibly get for other people, you should begin Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl , once you’ve done that and you’ve decided you want to play the long game to build things back up again, then the latest thing I’m doing is The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek.
Finally, Gerry Cinnamon has a new album that comes out this month, I spoke about him yesterday , the link to the album is here or if you have a turntable in your house then get it on vinyl.
We all need a push sometimes, we all need to be tilted in the direction that is best for us to travel in, hopefully one or more of these resources might help you on the way.
Please share yours!
