Maybe one of the problems we / I have is that we are now spending too much time in the future.
Worried about what might come, trying to ‘risk manage’, trying to avoid a disaster that we should have seen – or at least think we should have seen.
As a result of this, we over-rehearse time and time again; scenarios, situations, conversations… until most of our waking life is about what might happen next not what might happen now.
Maybe this is supposed to be simple like the stuff about Mindfulness, centering yourself, being here now (most of us have tried at least some of that)
In truth though, if you see the people that seem to get it right, or more right than others, they live a little bit back there, a little bit over there and a lot of it right here.
I’ve always seemed to find that since the year 2000 Baz Luhrmann
“the real things to worry about never crossed your troubled mind”
I don’t want to live my life entirely in the present because, if I do and I happen to be driving towards a truck then that’s a bad thing, but I want to live much more of it here, and I will.
